Small displacement mopeds are often driven at full throttle for long periods of time. The engine therefore wears out quickly, while the rest of the moped is still in great shape. Repairing an engine can be expensive in the workshop, as the entire engine must be disassembled to replace a crankshaft or connecting rod. Therefore, in case of engine damage, it is often advisable to replace the entire engine instead of repairing it.
