The company "Hercules" was founded in 1886 by Carl Marschütz as Velozipedfabrik Carl Marschütz & Co. and produced bicycles in the early years until 1928. It was not until 1928 that the production of motorcycles with an engine capacity of less than 200 cm³ became worthwhile again. All engines of the Hercules two-wheelers were made by Fichtel & Sachs.

The decompression valve makes it easier to start your Sachs 505 or 504 engine. When starting, the valve allows part of the compression pressure to flow out of the cylinder, making it easier for you to move the pedal shaft. The decompression valve is screwed directly into the opening in the cylinder.
