Warnings & Battery Information

Warning and care instructions

on the use and storage of batteries for e-bikes, pedelecs & co.

General notes

Before using the battery, read all warnings and notes in this user manual carefully!

It is recommended to keep these warnings handy so that they are available to you at all times. If you pass the battery on to a third party, either individually or installed, please hand over these warnings as well.

The rechargeable batteries used in e-bikes are generally safe when used as intended. However, due to the composition of the batteries, their high energy density and the ever-present danger of incorrect use or storage, considerable damage and danger to life and limb can never be ruled out. It is therefore important that you take note of and follow the following information.

Warning notices

Caution Fire and explosion hazard!

If a battery is damaged, e.g. due to a fall, overheating, loss of liquid or outgassing may occur. The rechargeable battery can catch fire during operation, during charging or even in idle mode. Even if no external damage is visible, internal damage can cause the battery to catch fire immediately or only after a longer period of time. There is a risk that objects in the vicinity may ignite, endangering property, life and limb.

It is therefore essential to follow the instructions for use and care given below in order to minimize the dangers described as far as possible!

If you notice that the rechargeable battery has fallen or has been subjected to any other mechanical impact, in case of doubt do not use the rechargeable battery any longer or have it checked by a specialist dealer! Under no circumstances should you open the battery yourself or attempt to repair it!

In case of fire, call the fire department immediately! If possible, you can cool the battery with a lot of sand. Burning batteries are very difficult to extinguish, burning battery cells can usually only be allowed to burn down in a controlled manner.

Caution Risk of injury!

If the battery is damaged or in the event of a fire, liquids, gases or vapors may escape. Significant injuries to the external and internal organs may occur. If lithium escapes in the event of damage, this substance can cause severe burns to the skin.

Avoid skin contact and do not inhale gases and vapors! Escaping acid may have a strong corrosive effect and permanently damage objects.

Notes on use and care

1. Use the battery only in conjunction with compatible devices!

- Only use the battery in e-bikes that are designated as suitable for this purpose by the manufacturer of the e-bike and the battery! If in doubt, consult a specialist!
- Only use compatible chargers to charge the battery! Only use chargers that are not damaged!

2. Always store the battery in a safe place!

- Observe the temperature limits of the battery specified by the manufacturer!
- Protect it from fire, intense sunlight and other sources of heat!
- Select a location outside a residential building for short or long-term storage of the battery! If possible, place the battery in a fire- and acid-proof container and keep flammable materials far away!
- When transporting the e-bike, remove the battery beforehand and transport it separately from the bicycle! When transporting the battery, always ensure that it is adequately secured against falling and other damage!
- In low outdoor temperatures, remove the battery from the holder when the e-bike is not in use and store it as described!
- Keep the battery away from any wetness and always ensure that the storage location is well ventilated!
- Never store the battery when it is completely discharged! If you do not use the battery for more than a quarter of a year, recharge the battery regularly!
- Secure the battery against the dangers of a fall or similar damage!
- Do not use any liquids to clean the battery!
- Store the battery so that it is inaccessible to children and animals!

3. Use only batteries without damage!

- If in doubt, refrain from using the battery if it has fallen to the ground or has been subjected to other force! Remember that the battery may be damaged even if it appears undamaged on the outside!
- If you notice an unusual odor, heat or discoloration of the battery, do not use it again immediately!

4. Ensure safety when charging the battery!

- Follow the instructions of the e-bike and battery manufacturer for the charging process!
- Always charge an empty battery immediately!
- Only use compatible and undamaged chargers to charge the battery!
- Never charge a battery that is or could be damaged!
- If possible, place the battery on a non-flammable or flame-retardant surface during the charging process!
- Only charge the battery under constant supervision!
- Keep a safe distance from flammable materials during the charging process!
- Always disconnect the charger from the battery when the charging process is complete!

5. Disposal of rechargeable batteries

- Rechargeable batteries are hazardous materials! Do not dispose of rechargeable batteries with household or residual waste! Always handle batteries with extreme care!
- Collect batteries that are no longer usable separately and recycle them in an environmentally friendly manner! Dispose of rechargeable batteries at a collection point for electrical equipment!
- If a rechargeable battery is damaged or you suspect damage, ask a specialist dealer about disposal in case of doubt! In case of damage, transport the battery in an acid- and fire-proof container!
