Die Nürnberger Hercules Werke waren ein großer Bestandteil der 1920er Motorradindustrie in Nürnberg. Das Unternehmen wurde von Karl Marschütz und seinem Bruder gegründet und stellte ab 1928 Zweiräder bis 200 ccm³ her. Dabei wurde in den Hercules Fahrwerken ein Motor von Fichtel & Sachs verbaut.

Mit dem Pedalstartmitnehmer wird das Starterrad bewegt. Durch die Vorwärtsbewegung der Pedale wird der Mitnehmer auf das Starterrad geschoben. Dabei verkeilen sich die Zähne und die Bewegung wird zur Kurbelwelle weitergegeben. Soll die Bremse betätigt werden, muss mit den Pedalen nach hinten getreten werden. Dabei wird der Mitnehmer mit der Verzahnung auf der anderen Seite auf den Bremshebel geschoben und dieser somit betätigt. Passend ist der Startermitnehmer für die Modelle M Prima, 2 3 4 5, Optima, Supra, Jogging, HR und MX1.
