Hercules ist wohl jedem Oldtimer-Zweirad-Besitzer ein wohl bekannter Name. Das Unternehmen wurde 1886 von Carl Marschütz gegründet und stellte bis zum Jahr 1928 Fahrräder her. Erst ab 1928 lohnte sich die Herstellung von leichten Motorrädern unter 200 cccm³ wieder. Seit dieser Zeit verwendeten die Hercules-Werke Fremdmotoren von Fichtel & Sachs.

Umgangssprachlich werden Wellendichtringe auch als Simmerringe bezeichnet. Ihre Aufgabe ist es Maschinengehäuse an austretenden Elemente wie beispielsweise Schubstangen oder Wellen gegen die Umgebung abzudichten. Dieser Wellendichtring hat die Maße 15 x 30 x 7 mm und dichtet doppelt ab.
