Egal, ob Kugel- oder Kegelrollen, die Lager im Lenkkopf müssen technisch einwandfrei und so eingestellt sein, dass sie spielfrei, aber leicht laufen. Doch auch dann verschleißen sie mit der Zeit.
Lenkkopflager ausbauen:
Bei einem Austausch der Lager werden oben und unten komplett neue Lagersätze eingebaut. Spezialwerkzeuge zum Aus- und Einbau von Lagern arbeiten mit Gewindespindeln ohne Erwärmung. Nachstehend beschrieben wird der Austausch der Lager nach der üblichen Handwerkermethode:
1. Obere und untere Lagerschale mit langem Dorn und 250-Gramm-Hammer unter leichten Schlägen schrittweise über Kreuz austreiben.
2. Auf dem Lenkschaftrohr sitzt noch der Innenring des unteren Lagers. Diesen fettfrei reinigen, mit einem Heißluftföhn kurz anwärmen, das ganze Bauteil auf einer stabilen Holzunterlage ablegen und den Innenring vorsichtig mit Hammer und Meißel ringsum von seinem Sitz treiben.
