Do you experience a loss of performance when accelerating?
This is often caused by outdated, porous valve stem seals. These allow too much engine oil to enter the combustion chambers via the valves. The result is oil carbon deposits on the valve head, in the combustion chambers and on the exhaust ducts. In the worst case, damage can be caused to the cylinder head of your vehicle, so you should replace these gaskets whenever a repair requires opening the cylinder head.
The valve stem seal prevents the engine oil from entering the combustion chamber via the valves or valve stems. It is fitted to the valve above the lower valve plate and below the spring. Only high-quality materials, such as pure and Elring sealing paper, were used in its manufacture.
Please observe the tightening torques for valve covers: 10 Nm
Our tip:
When cold, check the valve clearance at the cylinder inlet (0.09-0.13 mm) and cylinder outlet (0.16-0.20 mm).
