In the 1920s, Nuremberg was the centre of the two-wheeler industry. Among them was the velocipede factory Hercules, better known as Hercules Werke. The company mainly produced bicycles from 1886 to 1928. Only in the following years was production switched to mopeds, mopeds and mokicks up to 200 cc.
In drum brakes, brake pads rub against a cylindrical surface (the drum). When the brake is applied, the brake shoes are pressed against the rotating drum from the inside, thus braking the vehicle.
