Hercules ist wohl jedem Oldtimer-Zweirad-Besitzer ein wohl bekannter Name. Das Unternehmen wurde 1886 von Carl Marschütz gegründet und stellte bis zum Jahr 1928 Fahrräder her. Erst ab 1928 lohnte sich die Herstellung von leichten Motorrädern unter 200 cccm³ wieder. Seit dieser Zeit verwendeten die Hercules-Werke Fremdmotoren von Fichtel & Sachs.

Auf der Getriebehauptwelle werden die losen Getriebezahnräder montiert. Der Ziehkeil steckt in der längsgeschlitzten Hauptwelle, dort lässt er sich in Längsrichtung verschieben. Der Schaltkeil wird am Ende des Ziehkeils angebaut und stellt die Verbindung zwischen Hauptwelle und Zahnrad her. Das mit der Hauptwelle fest verbundene Zahnrad hat 26 Zähne und ist Teil des Tachoantriebs. Passend ist diese Getriebehauptwelle für die Sachs Motoren 50/4.
