Die Nürnberger Hercules Werke waren ein wesentlicher Bestandteil der Nürnberger Motorradindustrie. Die Motorradproduktion begann aber erst im Jahre 1928, also 42 Jahre nach Gründung des Unternehmens durch Carl Marschütz. Auch durch die Zusammenarbeit mit Fichtel & Sachs als Motorenlieferant, etablierte sich Hercules im Marktsegment der leichten Motorräder bis 200 cm³ und Fahrräder mit Hilfsmotor.
Das Verbindungsstück zwischen Getriebe und Pedale ist die Tretkurbelachse. Sie überträgt die Drehbewegung auf das Getriebe bzw. die Kurbelwelle. Damit kann die Kurbelwelle auf die zum Start des Motors benötige Drehzahl gebracht werden. Diese Tretkurbelachse ist passend für die Hercules Modelle HR, Supra, Jogging, MX1, Optima und M Prima 2 3 4 5.
