1886/87 gründete Carl Marschütz zusammen mit seinem Bruder die "Nürnberger Velozipedfabrik Hercules". Die Produktion war zunächst auf Fahrräder ausgelegt. Ab 1928 lohnte sich die Produktion von Motorrädern wieder und Hercules produzierte leichte Motorräder bis 200 cm³. Als 1930 bei Fichtel & Sachs in Schweinfurt die Fertigung von Motoren begann, wurden diese sofort bei Hercules verwendet.

Dieser Wellendichtring ist verhindert das Ausdringen von Öl an der Getriebehauptwelle. Zudem verhindert er das Eindringen von Schmutz.
