Did you know that the name of the traditional brand Zündapp is made up of two separate abbreviations? Namely Zünd- for igniter and -app for apparatus, which stands for Zünder- und Apparatebau-Gesellshaft m.b.H.. Of course, the company is better known as Zündapp-Werke GmbH. Motorbikes were manufactured in Nuremberg from 1921.
The kick starter is a starting device on motorised two-wheelers that is operated with the foot. The rider steps on the kickstarter lever, which accelerates the crankshaft to the speed required for starting. Most mopeds and motorbikes built until 1970 were started with this type of starter. The starter lever is usually retractable and is located on the right or left side of the engine.
