Irregular engine idling usually indicates old, hardened or brittle intake manifolds.

DESCRIPTION:
The engine draws false air and therefore runs noticeably lean. In the worst case, the engine could run hot and, in the case of extreme false air intake, even various costly defects could occur. It doesn't have to come to that.
