The fuel tap is important for machines that draw the fuel from the tank into the carburettor through the tap. The construction of the fuel tap is simple. It simply transports petrol from the fuel tank to the carburettor by means of gravity.
If the fuel tap is defective, the fuel supply can also lead to an over- or undersupply of the carburettor. An oversupply occurs when the fuel tap leaks. The seals can harden, dry out, become brittle and porous. Undersupply occurs when the fuel cannot pass the fuel tap. This is usually caused by contamination of the tap.
