The Zündapp company history began on February 17, 1917 when Fritz Neumeyer founded the Zünder und Apparatebau GmbH together with two other entrepreneurs. But it took another 4 years until the first moped/motorcycle was produced, because the 1800 workers were first assigned to produce artillery fuzes for the armament industry. After this company was also hit by the crisis in the motorcycle industry, Zündapp went into insolvency in 1984 after an economic ups and downs.

To ensure that the footswitch lever or the footswitch shaft springs back to its original position after the shifting process, a return spring is installed inside the shift bell. This is tensioned by pressing the footswitch lever. When the lever is released, the spring returns to its original shape and pulls the foot shifter pedal along with it.
